Mission Statement

The mission of the Western Huckleberry and Bilberry Association is to create a vital, thriving industry built around huckleberries and bilberries through information, education, and networking. The Association will achieve this mission by:

  • Providing educational programs to members
  • Supporting basic and applied research
  • Encouraging sustainable huckleberry culture techniques
  • Promoting improved production and marketing of huckleberries
  • Serving as an advocate and voice for the huckleberry industry

                                                    Audience

Target audiences include: producers ‑ managed stand and cultivated, wildcrafters, labor facilitators and contractors, researchers, processors, retailers, brokers and sales representatives, and wholesale distributors.

Our primary membership is located in the Western United States, and share business interests which are aimed at being progressive and profitable growers, pickers, marketers, producers, or brokers of huckleberries, as well as those who produce huckleberry plants for growers.  Characteristics include operations for which huckleberries are a major crop; huckleberry researchers, family businesses and farms which produce huckleberry products; direct marketers to the retail customer; those who seve a local market; and those who are not competitive in their industry relationships. 

The Western Huckleberry and Bilberry Association is working in cooperation with the Clearwater RC&D, the University of Idaho and other organizations.
